One of the most trending phones from in the phone market are Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and on Nokia Lumia 710. Nokia Lumia 710, no-doubt, is the only hope for Nokia to retain its position back. Both the phones are expected to challenge each other very hardly and indirectly resulting in a battle between Sony Ericsson and Nokia. Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc was released long ago, in March 2011 while the Nokia Lumia 710 is the latest phone (launched). Now, let us see what happens when we will have Nokia Lumia 710 vs Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
Nokia Lumia 710 vs Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc

Form Factor

Nokia Lumia 710 is having a very sleek body, its dimensions are 119 x 62.4 x 12.5 mm with a body weight of 125 grams. On the other hand Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is not so sleeker, with dimensions 125 x 63 x 8.7 mm, but the body weight is lighter in case of Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc – 117grams. Screen size or display size of Nokia Lumia 710 is 3.7inches while the display size of Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is 4.2inches.
Winner – Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc

Processor

Nokia Lumia 710 – 1.4 GHz Scorpion
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc – 1 GHz Scorpion
The processor column seems to be very clarifying itself. The processor of Lumia 710 is far better than that of Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. There is a difference of 0.4GHz or 400MHz between these two phones and this difference really matters a lot. Another surprising thing is, both of these phones use same GPU’s – Adreno 205 and same chipset – Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon.
Winner – Nokia Lumia 710

Display

I have already unveiled the display size of both the phones, now getting more technical, let me spotlight the pixel density and other related things. Nokia Lumia 710 is having 252 ppi pixel density while the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is having 233 ppi pixel density. Nokia Lumia 710 is having Corning Gorilla Glass while Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is having scratch-resistant glass. Corning Gorilla Glass is not a new sort of glass, Corning is a glass company which has manufactured Gorilla Glass for Nokia Lumia 710. The display glass of Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc too is similar to the Gorilla Glass. Hence, the deciding factors left are size, and pixel density.
Winner – Nokia Lumia 710

Camera

Nokia Lumia 710 – 5MP primary camera with LED flash etc.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc – 8MP primary camera, with video light, LED flash etc.
The camera quality column will definitely be a sort of honorable section for Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc as the camera quality of it is unmatchable! Lumia 710 is having 5MP primary camera, no secondary camera and allows to shoot videos at HD quality with 30fps. On the other hand Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is having 8MP primary camera and also allows shooting HD videos at the same rate but it has video light, autofocus etc too.
Winner – Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc

Operating System

Nokia Lumia 710 –Windows v7.5 Mango
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc – Android OS, v2.3
The only competitor of Android is iOS, other OS can’t even thing of defeating Android currently. Nokia Lumia 710 is a Windows-based phone while Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is having Android OS v2.3 and is even planned to be made upgradeable to Android v4.0. Both the OS are really good, but as I have mentioned only iOS can defeat Android. Windows Mango doesn’t even have a lot of application support while Android has hell lot of applications for itself. Android is more versatile than any other OS.
Winner – Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc

Data Connectivity

Data connectivity too matters a lot in the phones. Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is having great data connectivity features like 2G, 3G on HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 / 800 – LT15a bands and HSDPA 900 / 2100 – LT15i bands, it also has EDGE, WLAN, GPRS, Bluetooth v2.1,micro USB v2.0 etc. The data connectivity features of Lumia 710 too are great, all of them are same as to the Xperia Arc but it doesn’t support 3G on LT15a bands.
Winner – Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc

Memory

Nokia Lumia 710 – 8GB storage with 512MB RAM
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc – 320MB internal storage, 512MB RAM, 8GB memory included in box
The memory of Nokia Lumia 710 is fixed, and isn’t too large. It’s merely 8GB on the other hand though the internal memory is very poor but the expandable memory of Xperia Arc is 32GB. 8GB memory card is already included in the box. Xperia Arc’s memory can be increased to any level we want this gives it an edge over Lumia but at the same time we must also not forget that sometimes people face a lot of data loss due to corrupted memory cards. RAM of both the phones is same.
Winner – Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc

Battery

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc – Standard battery, Li-Po 1500 mAh
Nokia Lumia 710 – Standard battery, Li-Ion 1300 mAh
Nokia Lumia 710’s battery keeps it running 400 hrs on standby 3G and 2G and 38 hrs on music play, while the Xperia Arc’s battery keeps it alive for 430hrs on 2G standby and 400 hrs on 3G standby but when it comes to music play the battery’s power seems to droop down as it powers the phone for mere 31 hrs on music play. In short Xperia Arc’s battery is good for 2G users while Lumia’s battery is good for both.
Winner – Nokia Lumia 710

Price

There is not a lot of price difference between these two phones. Lumia 710 is priced at mere Rs.1,681 less.
Winner – Depends

Final Verdict

Both the phones are great. Nokia Lumia 710 is being buzzed a lot because Nokia counts on it for its future plan. Something similar is with Sony Ericsson which counts on Xperia Arc for its future plans. Xperia Arc, I think, will be a better choice as it has won more rounds than Nokia Lumia 710. Spending merely Rs.1,681 more for a phone like Xperia Arc will definitely be a good choice.
