Everyone’s getting attracted towards Nokia Lumia 800. Where is the S 2 fever? It seems, people just got rid of it from the Lumia 800 medicine, at least for a while. Nokia Lumia 800 is a superb phone with brilliant features and above all its doing what phones are designed to, get more buyers! Millions of Lumia 800 devices have been sold till now and these figures are just ramping up.
But sadly Nokia Lumia 800 might soon be a history because Nokia has already announced the successor of Nokia Lumia 800; they call it Nokia Lumia 900 which was quite obvious. There aren’t a hell lot of changes but the changes which have been brought are making the new phone to fit in every customer’s demands.  Now, let’s check the differences between Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 900 at a bit broader scale. So, here it goes –
Lumia 800 vs Lumia 900

Form Factor

Both the phones are really nice and stylish. There is hardly any change in the form factor of these two phones. Nokia Lumia 800 is having 127.8 x 68.5 x 11.5 mm dimensions while the Nokia Lumia 900 is having 116.5 x 61.2 x 12.1 mm dimensions. The weight of Nokia Lumia 800 is 142grams while weight of Nokia Lumia 900 is 160grams. Although there is a heavy increase in the weight of these two phones but it has proved beneficial because Nokia Lumia 900 is bit sleeker, longer, and fairly wide.

Processor

Nokia Lumia 800 – 1.4GHz scorpion processor

There isn’t any difference between the clock speeds of these two phones but the chipset version has been changed. Nokia Lumia 800 is having Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset while Nokia Lumia 900 is having a Qualcomm APQ8055 Snapdragon chipset. The GPU too of both the phones is same – Adreno 205.

Display

There is a mighty change in the displays of both the phones. Nokia Lumia 900’s display is a lot bigger than that of the Nokia Lumia 800 which will definitely help in sorting out problems for Nokia. Nokia Lumia 800 is having a 3.7inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 252ppi pixel density.
On the other hand Nokia Lumia 900 is having a 4.3inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with 217ppi pixel density. Both the phones support multitouch and their displays are protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass.

Camera

The only difference which Nokia has brought up in Nokia Lumia 900 is that it’s having a secondary 1.3MP camera which is completely missing in the Nokia Lumia 800. Rest all the camera features are same – 8 MP primary camera, Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, dual-LED flash etc.

Operating System

Nokia Lumia 900 – Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango

The OS of both the phones is exactly same. Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango is the latest OS in the Windows Phone series. So, nothing new in this section. All the bugs are expected to be fixed only after the successful builds.

Data Connectivity

The biggest and the best change in the data connectivity features of both the phones is that Nokia Lumia 900 will be having NFC support while it wasn’t available in the Nokia Lumia 800. Other features like GPRS, Wi-Fi, EDGE, Bluetooth v2.1 etc are same in both the cases. Data connectivity features play a very important role in transferring the data from one phone to another.

Memory

Nothing new in the memory catalog. The internal memories of both the phones is 16GB with 512MB RAM which is an awesome combination for a speedy phone. Feature of increasing the memory in both the phones is missing and is perhaps the most wanted feature.

Battery

The most reported problem of Nokia Lumia 800 is its low battery but Nokia has taken a step forward to put the blanket on this bug. They have called many of the faulted sets back and are fixing them. Battery won’t be a problem in Nokia Lumia 900 because it’s having a powerful standard battery, Li-Ion 1830 mAh while the battery of Nokia Lumia 800 is standard battery, Li-Ion 1450 mAh.

Price

Nokia Lumia 900 – Expected price is Rs.32,500
Nokia Lumia 800 – Rs.29,999
Not too much difference between the expected price of Nokia Lumia 900 and the current price of Nokia Lumia 800 but the choice will always be yours.

Final Verdict

I should do justice to these two phones and of course to you. Had I been be in need to purchase one of these two phones I would have blindly gone with the Nokia Lumia 900 because it’s offering some features like powerful battery, secondary camera etc at a very considerable price.
