Powerful image organizers and editors such as Adobe Photoshop Lightroom are overkill for casual users. Those who organize their photos would like to eliminate duplicates or correct small errors in snapshots. These functions are offered by Ashampoo Photo Commander 9. The user interface of the previous version was chunky, with lots of tools and panels. Ashampoo Photo Commander 9isn’t much different and Ashampoo has gone ahead and added new features such as the IPTC editor, which allows you to tag photos and add comments using batch processing in Ashampoo Photo Commander 9.
In addition to this, users can use the modified/added metadata in other programs because IPTC is standardized in Ashampoo Photo Commander 9. Another benefit of IPTC data is that the integrated search function uses it to filter content from large image catalogs in Ashampoo Photo Commander 9. However, you cannot save search profiles in Ashampoo Photo Commander 9. You have to specify the search parameters each time you wish to filter searches. Speaking of searching, anyone familiar with Photo Commander will like the new automatic grouping function.
The program can search pictures according to criteria such as camera model, keyword, date, lens used, or file type, which provides a good overview in Ashampoo Photo Commander 9. The Ashampoo Photo Commander 9 can also be used as a simple image editing tool. You can straighten tilted horizons or crop out unwanted areas. Brush for fine adjustments and delicate retouching is missing.
The “one click” automatic adjustment is a handy tool for inexperienced users. It delivers richer colors and better contrast, and it worked very well in our tests. Brightness, contrast, gamma and color saturation can also be adjusted manually. Ashampoo Photo Commander 9 also offers new filters and a graphics library with picture frames, calendars and postcards. Thus you can make average looking shots more lively.
